Is Outward Bound safe?
Outward Bound has a strong safety record with trained instructors, established safety protocols, and risk management procedures developed over 60 years. All instructors hold wilderness first responder certifications at minimum. That said, wilderness activities carry inherent risk.
Can I contact my child during an Outward Bound course?
Communication is very limited during expeditions as participants are in wilderness areas without cell service. Emergency communication is available through the base office. The disconnect from technology is considered a key part of the experience.
